Build your photography to an enviable standard, as David unveils skills and principles to help you fully explore the creative process that goes into making defining photographs.
Expect to explore a variety of photographic disciplines and locations, from landscape, architecture, to creative travel photography, with expert guidance and help from one of the UK's leading landscape, architecture and travel photographers.
The course is designed for those familiar with the basics of photography and to build up these skills to an enviable standard. As with all creative endeavours, the technical control is just the start of a long process of refinement. David will be unveiling skills and principles, getting you to fully explore the creative process that goes into making defining photographs.
The course will concentrate on a variety of photographic disciplines from landscape, architecture and creative travel photography. As West Dean is situated near interesting countryside, towns and coastline, you will be able to explore many differing skill sets within close proximity including the following key subjects:
• Composition and creative decision making
• Learning extensive camera control
• Explore greater image aesthetics
• Simplification of imagery for greater impact
• Colour / Black and White and an introduction to infrared photography
• Spontaneity and speeding up your flow
• An introduction to street photography and street portraiture
David will also be concentrating on extended computer support, one of the most vital skills to master in today's modern world of digital photography. He will be on hand to help you get the very best out of your own photographs and create a truly exciting photography course.
To start there will be an illustrated look at David's professional portfolio. The talk will include images from across the globe and the underpinning thought processes that go into making a great photograph. He actively welcomes discussion and participation in uncovering his and your own photography.

Courses start early evening. Residential students to arrive from 4pm, non-residential students to arrive by 6.45pm.
6.45pm: Welcome, followed by dinner (included).
8 - 9pm: First teaching session, attendance is essential.
Classes 9.15 - 5pm, lunch is included.
From 6.30pm: Dinner (included for residential students).
Evening working - students may have access to workshops, but only with their tutor's permission and provided any health and safety guidelines are observed.
Classes 9.15am - 3pm, lunch is included.
Residential students are to vacate their rooms by 10am please.
