About this course

Discover a creative approach to goldwork with this fun course, inspired by the iconic footprint carpet located in the spiral staircase at West Dean College.

Course Description

As in all of Hanny’s goldwork hand embroidery workshops, this course will balance technique and experimentation, leaving plenty of breathing space for your own artistic interpretation.

Working on an exclusive West Dean inspired footprint design printed on sustainable organic cotton, as found in the spiral staircase created by the College’s founder Edward James, you will be encouraged to find your own response to the historical techniques of goldwork combined with creative beading.

Hanny will teach the fundamentals of techniques and a method of experimentation, which allows you to find you own outcomes and make decisions on how you use these stitches in your work.
