About this course

Observing from a model, sculpt both hands and feet in clay with life and expression.

Course Description

This taster day provides you with an introduction to the techniques of sculpting in clay with a professional sculptor.

Working from a model you will explore the forms of the hand and foot, considering the underlying anatomy, through observation. You will be encouraged to sculpt works with life and expression that emerge as both naturalistic and representational.

The tutor will support you throughout with demonstrations and one-to-one guidance as you learn which tools to use, how to observe and sculpt your subject and how to manage clay.

By the end of the day, you will have completed several hands and feet, learned the basic techniques of sculpting by adding and by taking away, and of clay management.
