Beginners
£128Learn some of the key lessons for planning, creating and maintaining your own vegetable garden. With a mixture of hands-on practical demonstrations and classroom-based theory, the day will include topics such as site and soil preparation, crop selection and rotation, sowing and planting out, crop protection, and how to manage pests among the vegetables. We will also look at ideas for making your vegetable patch sing by incorporating colourful ornamentals among your edibles.

Students should arrive by 9am for registration.
Classes are from 9.15 - 5pm
Lunch is included.
Laura Bolton is a certified RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) professional gardener with many years of historical estate experience. Her work at Queen Victoria’s Osborne House has helped to attract thousands of annual visitors. Her ornamental glasshouse display of unusual and tender perennials at Parham House has been praised in The Guardian and featured in The English Garden Magazine.
Max Crisfield was kitchen gardener at Parham House and Gardens for five years. In 2020 he joined a new team, working for head gardener and master horticulturalist Ben Pope at an Arne Maynard-designed private garden in West Sussex. He has taught at West Dean College of Arts and Conservation and the Garden House in Brighton and has had articles published in The Telegraph and The English Garden.
