Paint the Chinese Moon Goddess who lives in the moon with the Jade Rabbit. The Jade Rabbit mixes the elixir of immortality. While exploring the unique symbolism relevant to Chinese myths and legends, you will learn to paint a range of expressive brushstroke techniques that will enable you to complete a traditional style Chinese brush painting.
The tutor will introduce you to and demonstrate the 'Four Treasurers' of Chinese brush painting, including ink, ink stone, paper (Xuan) and the brushes. Through demonstration and practice you will learn how to use the Chinese brush, loading colours to achieve up to three shades in one brushstroke. Along with the foundation brushstrokes a number of techniques will be shown, practiced and applied to achieve traditional Chinese painting compositions.
The tutor will provide individually tailored support throughout the course, and you will have access to demonstration paintings, photographs and reference books. Detailed notes will also be provided for you to take home to continue your practice.
