About this course

Create a one of a kind book while you learn key bookbinding techniques and create a multi section stitched book with pockets, and a wrap around tie, which could become a sketchbook or journal.

Course Description

On this one day workshop, you will be introduced to some techniques of creating one of a kind books. You will make a unique multi-section binding. This idiosyncratic book can contain different paper: plain, lined, gridded, and pockets and envelopes for inclusions. Other pages can include simple pop-ups, fold-outs, varying page sizes and tipped in additional recycled paper.

The resulting book you will take home is a resonant starting point for your own visual journal.

"I felt very safe because of the stringent safety precautions that were in place because of Covid. From the welcome at the door, to the dining arrangements, to the workshop benches individually laid out with all our materials and equipment, to the camera installed and the screens on the walls so that we did not have to crowd round the tutor, I thought that the whole day was so well planned. Obviously the best bit was the actual course: an expert tutor with a well thought out plan to get us through the day."
