About this course

Create a small bowl as you try your hand at woodturning and make objects from ash or sycamore.

Course Description

Good working practice and essential health and safety requirements are also discussed by the tutor and practiced throughout. The day is designed to give you a taste of the experience of turning a bowl by using a gouge and a lathe, followed by finishing with abrasives. You will get a glimpse into the world of woodturning where pieces of wood can be converted into useful and decorative objects.

Please note that woodturning is a physically tiring and challenging activity, and requires you to be able to carefully follow the tutor's instruction.

Having developed a taste for woodturning, attending a longer follow up course will give further insight to enable you to continue and practice turning on your own.
