The correspondence between Edward James and Ivan Hicks reveals a
private, intimate side of James and offers a glimpse at the
formative years of Hicks, now considered one of the UK's leading
garden designers and landscape artists.
On May 15th 2018 West Dean College will host a special event
with author Ami Bouhassane to celebrate the publication of Lee
Miller: a Life with Food, Friends, and Recipes as part of the
College's series of Author Talks, co-ordinated by the Creative
Writing department. Programme Leader and author, Martine McDonagh
interviewed Ami for International Women's Day 2018.
As part of International Women's Day 2018, West Dean College is
profiling the lives and work of seven women, past and present. We
will be celebrating women who have contributed to the cultural
heritage of the College as well as those working now who continue
to build on the legacy of conservation and the arts for which West
Dean is internationally known.
The cataloguing of Edward James's unique personal archive has
recently begun. The focus of this project will be the Cultural
Papers, a diverse and illuminating body of material with content
ranging over many areas of the creative arts including visual art,
literature, music and ballet.
