Studio guest: John Blakeley
The West Dean Visual Arts department is pleased to have John Blakeley as a guest artist working in the sculpture studios over the next few months. A regular tutor at West Dean on both the full-time programmes and short courses, John is an internationally renowned sculptor who trained at The City and Guilds of London Art School, The Royal Academy and St Martins School of Art. Since the early 1980s, John has worked prominently in the film industry and has been involved with some of the largest and most successful films of the past two decades.
As well as working in Hollywood, John continues his own practice, incorporating drawing and film as well as highly skilled sculptural work. Having John's experience and expertise on hand is of great benefit to the current students and not only to those working in the discipline of sculpture.
