Shortlist Announced - West Dean Tapestry Commission Open Call
The West Dean Tapestry Studio has announced the shortlist for its first Tapestry Commission Open Call . Over 150 artists based in the UK and working in different disciplines submitted a design or concept to be handwoven by Master Weavers at the internationally renowned Studio.
The shortlisted artists are: Katja Angeli, Fiona Curran, Rebecca Lennon, David Musgrave, Eva Rothschild, Sarah Staton, Ian Whittlesea.
The winning artist will be announced on Monday 3 October and will work closely with Master Weavers to expand their knowledge of the hand-weaving process and develop the final design which will be woven in 2017.
The winner will also work closely with the Visual Arts department, giving lectures and tutorials to full-time students. They will also engage in the college's academic discourse around skills-based making within contemporary art.
