The Old Library, West Dean CollegeFree, booking essential
Currently exhibiting at British Art Show 8, Stuart Whipps uses the history and processes of photography to underpin much of his thinking. His recent exhibition 'Ilse of Slingers' at Spike Island, Bristol, explored the formation of ideas and the fixing of images, making particular reference to Edward James, founder of West Dean College. Incorporating references to The James Press, Tilly Losch and James' surreal garden of 'Las Pozas', Xilitla, Whipps uses archival information, photographs and objects to conjure unexpected connections and draw out new narratives.
Talk starts at 5:30.
This event is free but booking is essential.
