St. Andrew’s Church, West Dean£5 (payable if not attending the Guitar Festival Open Day)
The NYGE Fellowship Ensemble, directed by Helen Sanderson, will take to the stage to perform a recital.
The NYGE Fellowship Ensemble represents an aspirational achievement for truly exceptional guitarists from the NYGE family. It offers artistic and performance development for early-career guitarists aged 18-25 years old and is the figurehead ensemble for the entire organisation. Fellowship holders are selected by highly competitive annual audition, and they combine intensive rehearsals with professional engagements and touring, alongside personal development as educators and mentors.
Note of interest - Georgina Dadson, Rowan McConkey, Kristian Richardson, George Robinson, Alex Roche, Torrin Willaims, Hannah Woollacott and Zoe Barnett are all alumni from previous West Dean Classical Guitar Festivals, and many having received funding from our bursary fund, so it’s a pleasure to be able to invite them all back for the 2020 Open Day Recital!
Helen Sanderson is the Artistic Director of NYGE-UK and conductor for NYGE London Camerata and NYGE Fellowship. As a performer, Helen has a strong affinity with chamber music for guitar and for working with guitar in collaborative settings and it this passion which led to her launching the Fellowship in 2018 to intensively develop these skills in a new generation of emerging artists, as well as mentoring them a music educators and workshop leaders. International guest appearances as conductor have included Hands-On Symposium (Portugal), Encuentro Internacional de Guitarra Clasica “Ciudad de Guia” (Gran Canaria) and Guitar Foundation of America regional symposium in Kentucky.
Together, they are performing as part of the West Dean International Classical Guitar Festival Open Day event.
