Garden photography at West Dean with Jacqui Hurst

West Dean College of Arts and Conservation

Practice the art of producing high quality well-composed images with Jacqui Hurst.
Learn how to make the most of the available light to enrich vistas, plant portraits and abstract details of patterns and textures. The emphasis of the day is to grasp how to see and compose images in-camera without the need for post image manipulation. It is suitable if you use a DSLR or advanced compact camera.

On a series of projects designed to develop the ‘seeing eye', you will learn to compose stronger images and gain a greater understanding of how your camera works.

Taking greater control of your camera, you will understand how to use exposure compensation and ISO. Experiment with different viewpoints; consider the importance of horizon line and how it influences the picture. Observe how the light can influence your pictures.
