  • Hey Clay! – Open Pottery Workshops


    Pottery Workshops (for age 16+)

    Work with self-hardening clay to create a group of textured clay shapes that can be hung as a mobile or as a wind chime. You will use different tools and explore the wide range of textures and patterns that can be made in clay to create interesting surfaces and forms. Your tutor Jane will demonstrate how you can colour your pieces once they are dry at home.

  • Delight in dahlias


    Andy Vernon, author of the award-winning book The Plant Lover's Guide to Dahlias, shares his passion and knowledge in a talk and demonstration celebrating these colourful and dramatic plants. Andy will illustrate the best dahlias for a plethora of different garden situations, pots, patios, balconies, mixed borders, as well as cutting garden cultivars, unusual heritage and rare varieties. He'll inspire with ideas for container planting combinations and border planting plans. A talk full of fun tips and techniques to help you get the very best from your tubers. Talk 2-3.30pm.

  • Calling all Makers to Design and Craft Fair, featuring MADE

    Garden Event

    The successful West Dean Design and Craft Fair will be returning for its third year over three days from 3 - 5 June 2016. Exhibitor registration will be open at the beginning of December and the College is calling for printmakers, designers and makers to show and sell their work. There will be additional hands-on taster workshops and free demonstrations in contemporary art and craft run by the College. Last year over 5,000 people enjoyed the event which takes place in the grounds and workshops of West Dean, organised by the College in collaboration with the team behind the highly successful MADE London, MADE Brighton and the Brighton Art Fair. New for this year is a dedicated print section exhibiting and selling original prints.
