Lucinda Guy

Lucinda is a knitwear designer-maker and author of ten knitting and crochet books.

She studied constructed textiles and is currently specialising in traditional Northern, Scandinavian and Baltic hand knitting, knotting, nålbindning and crochet techniques. She travels regularly to Scandinavia researching these techniques and has taught workshops in the US and the UK.

Describe your approach to teaching:

I enjoy working with smaller groups where emphasis is placed on encouraging a thorough understanding of techniques as well as allowing students to relax and work at their own pace.

What inspires your own work?

All sorts of things from nature, folk tales, myths and legends to vintage knitwear, textiles, toys and children's books, folk art and especially old Nordic handicrafts.
