Christine Graf

After working for many years as a goldsmith for jewellery designers and running her own studio Christine studied at School of Jewellery in Birmingham where she received an MA in 2007 with distinction.

Her current studio work includes both, jewellery and larger scale vessel objects, focussed on the use of enamel. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally.

My approach to teaching is to impart and share my knowledge of technical skills and the particularity of enamel to inspire students to experiment and explore the material developing a personal and unique application of the technique.

What inspires your own work?

A colourful piece of rubbish - shadow lines - cloud formations - ripped down billboards. The images and emotions of everyday impressions arise a complex and multifaceted 'visual sound'. My hands, my mind, the material I use are in a constant dialogue to transform these impressions into a piece of art.
