Alison Ellen
Alison Ellen has been designing and making hand knitted clothes for 25 years, dyeing her own yarns, and exploring the possibilities for innovative and wearable shaping in hand knitting.
Having trained in woven and printed textiles on the BA course in Farnham, she sees knitting as a constructive textile technique, and approaches designing through exploring construction, as well as enjoying colour, texture and pattern. The aim is always to keep things simple, knitting as much as possible without seams by knitting in different directions,
Teaching alongside running her business has stimulated more research and resulted in publication of two books on designing in knitting.
