Sandrine Maugy
Sandrine Maugy is French and has been living in England since 1994. She lives in Bitterne Park, Southampton, where she has a studio.
A life long interest in gardening and a fascination for colour and light has led her to favour botanical subjects. In December 2001, she was awarded a Certificate in Botanical by London Art College. In March 2002, she was accepted as a member of the Society of Floral Painters. She was elected on the committee in November 2004. In June 2002, she was commissioned by eminent plantsman Roy Lancaster to paint a rare honeysuckle growing in his garden. This was the first one of many paintings depicting Roy's magnificent garden. In January 2004, the paintings were exhibited at the Royal Horticultural Society Hall in London, where Sandrine was awarded a Silver medal for the display. In February 2006, she was made an Associate member of the Society of Botanical Artists.
Sandrine is currently working for the Tudor House Museum in Southampton, where she paints plants from their medieval knot garden.
She regularly writes articles for Artists & Illustrators Magazine.
