This course will examine the spiritual, cultural, and monetary values are but some of the significant factors that 'working' ecclesiastical metalwork is imbued with. This three-day course will examine the conservation issues of a range of religious metalwork and try to find a b alance between the use of the object and the needs of its long-term survival.  The storage and display of objects too delicate for ceremonial use will be explored and mitigation strategies will be explored by participants to enable their occasional use and their display to increase their accessibility.
