Professional conservators in practice
Applied colour theory for conservators

6 – 9 MAY 2008

Applied colour theory for conservators

Course reference:  PC 7808

COURSE LEADER:  Mark Cazalet

COURSE TUTOR:  David Dorning

This course aims to present and compare the view of the practising artist with the scientific description of colour and its use.  Mark Cazalet is a successful artist who has worked with a range of media including paint, ceramics, glass, mosaic and tapestry, and has studied many of the theories of colour familiar to artists.  David Dorning teaches science for conservators, covering both the visual effects of light and colour, and their degradative effects on objects. The course will combine both approaches and aim to identify areas of common understanding, in order to provide a framework in which conservators can develop their expertise in the application of colour to aspects such as colour matching for in-painting, dyeing and toning materials.

Non-residential fee:  £330*

 * Fully inclusive residential fees vary, please see 'Dates and Fees' section for costs and booking form.
