Based around the strengths of the West Dean Graduate, Post Graduate and Masters Courses in Metalwork Conservation this first in a series of four PCIP courses aims to offer professional conservators and recent graduates in conservation the opportunity to get to grips with the manufacturing technologies and techniques that were used to make many of the objects that pass through conservation departments.
Part one introduces soft and hard soldering techniques on ferrous and non ferrous metals. Participants will employ a range of metalworking and joining skills to produce a test piece which provides a working insight into the skill and ingenuity of the makers and designers of historic metalwork.
