Foundations for Learning An introduction to studying at West Dean through practical exercises on objects and artefacts.
Conservation Theory and Practice Ceramic technology, history, conservation theory and practice. Examination techniques, cleaning and conservation reports. Materials science programme. Specialist lectures, visits to collections and student seminars.
Practical I Basic treatment techniques for ceramics with case studies.
Practical II Archaeological Conservation.
Practical III Examples of increasing complexity.
Practical IV Completion of conservation treatments including finishing techniques.
Professional practice Seminars and case studies.
Exhibition of Practical Work An important celebration of your work, supported by your portfolio.
Entry requirements
Applications are welcomed from candidates who do not possess the entry requirements listed below providing they have relevant alternative qualifications and appropriate experience.
Degree or qualification at equivalent level to a second year of undergraduate study eg HNC, HND, DipHE and significant interest in conservation and the particular material you wish to conserve.
