West Dean Gardens and Sussex Barn Gallery
Conference delegates can enjoy West Dean's award-winning gardens and Visitor Centre (designed and built in collaboration with the Prince of Wales's Institute of Architecture) as well as our recently-restored Sussex Barn Art Gallery. The walled kitchen garden features some of the finest Victorian glasshouses in England with rows of carefully cultivated vegetables and fruit trees and exotic produce under glass.
There is a magnificently planted 300-ft Edwardian pergola designed by Harold Peto. A 2-mile circular walk through St Roche's Arboretum offers breathtaking views of the Downs. The gardens Visitor Centre houses a licensed restaurant and imaginative gift shop. The Sussex Barn Art Gallery houses temporary exhibitions of work by internationally renowned and emerging artists as well as tutors and students of the college.
