Gardening and Garden Design

Gardening students at West Dean enjoy expert teaching in inspiring surroundings, with unlimited access to the award-winning gardens during their courses. This seasonal programme offers a popular mix of courses in garden design and practical gardening topics. A series of weekend one-day lectures and two-day seminars is a popular addition to this established programme.

Teaching facilities

The gardening courses have an indoor base in the College which is ideally suited for hands-on practice. Study also takes place in the West Dean Gardens. On some longer courses occasional visits are made to gardens and nurseries in the area. Garden lectures and seminars take place in the Sussex Barn which is accessed via West Dean Gardens entrance.
