Deepen your understanding of period furniture by making a rectangular 17th century-style stool on this course. Start with rough timber – oak and ash – and a small number of basic woodworking tools and work the timber up to a finished piece. Learn to use appropriate hand tools and techniques at each stage, for splitting the wood, shaping and cutting the elements, then cutting mortise and tenon joints for final assembly. You can also try out the shaving ‘horse’ and spring pole lathe.
