Textiles

This section offers such a wide variety of courses that it needs to be studied in detail. On our courses students can create images in textiles, or make accessories and textiles for various domestic uses. West Dean also operates the only commercial tapestry weaving studio in England, working to commission for corporate and private clients and heritage organisations.

Workshops and equipment

Most textile courses take place either in the Main Workshop on the ground floor, or in one of the upper Art Studios, reached by stairs or a stair-lift. Appropriate equipment is available in these spaces. Visits to our professional tapestry weaving studio can be arranged during your course.
