Volunteering
Join our Volunteering team and get involved in activities from caring for the gardens to assisting with admin tasks and general duties for the Foundation.
Thanks to their dedication and hard work, our volunteers are central in assisting us to provide our charitable aims.
Volunteers usually work between 3 - 8 hours a week and can get involved in a variety of activities. We have a dedicated gardens volunteering team who help ensure all the gardening tasks are completed on time. Our admin volunteers are invaluable in helping us deliver work for the Foundation, this might include getting involved with communication work or helping the development office with the Friends membership.
If you are interested in Volunteering at West Dean, please write to one of the below contacts detailing your experiences and skills and what you wish to gain from volunteering.
Meet some of our volunteers:
Lesley Aylwin
"It is immensely satisfying to realise that I have had an input, however small, into the beauty of the garden, and I am very proud of that. It is great, too, to be a part of the friendly team, and I look forward to coming each week."
Janet Martindale
“What does a "vollie" do at West Dean? That is the best part of it! You never know, from one week to the next.”
