About the Tapestry Studio

The skills and techniques of tapestry weaving employed at West Dean have been used over many centuries of this ancient craft. The weavers at West Dean Tapestry Studio are still producing works of art that speak of human endeavour and commitment.

At West Dean, tapestries are being commissioned by corporate bodies, livery companies, hospitals and cathedrals. Smaller pieces are often commissioned by private individuals, architects and interior designers.

Each piece is designed to meet the client’s needs, ranging from small domestic to monumental public works and each project is co-ordinated by the Studio, linking client, artist and weaver at every stage.

Due to a very exciting project - with a tight production schedule, the regular weekly talks that usually take place at the West Dean Tapestry Studio on a Wednesday lunchtime have been temporarily cancelled. These will resume again in October.
