Art & Memory – an exhibition
This exhibition has now closed
Curated by The Memorial Arts Charity
For more information on the Memorial Arts Charity, who curated the exhibition and commissioned the works from some of Britain’s most accomplished letter-carvers and memorial artists - click here.
The works ranged from the traditional to the contemporary and the pieces included lettered standing stones, circular seats, lettered steps, benches, wall plaques, and a fountain.

All works were newly commissioned by The Memorial Arts Charity, which was established in 1998 to foster the UK’s long tradition of fine letter-carving. The Charity provides training workshops and an apprenticeship scheme and is now celebrating this artistry with a national collection of contemporary memorial art – The Art & Memory Collection.
The works are being divided between six permanent sites: Winterbourne Botanic Garden, Birmingham; The Memorial Garden, Canterbury Cathedral; Grimsthorpe Castle Memorial Garden, Lincolnshire; Arnos Vale Cemetery, Bristol; Blair Castle, Scotland and The Monnow Valley Art Centre, Herefordshire/Welsh borders.
