Get Writing
Judge the Poet
In his show, Judge takes suggestions from the audience – a word, an idea or a concept – he then IMMEDIATELY incorporates them into a rhyming, enjoyable and understandable poem which links all the audiences’ contributions. In these accompanying workshops, he will reveal some of the techniques needed to think on your feet and create poems on the spot.

New Ways of Watching Films
John Ashbrook aka The Cellulord will be running workshops over the weekend getting people looking and understanding film rather than just watching them. The workshop sessions will include key elements on how filmmakers manipulate us, what to look out for when watching films; and how to translate these into entertaining reviews or blogs. Author of books on Terry Gilliam, Brian de Palma and The Coen Brothers John’s passion and knowledge for film is infectious and will certainly leave you with new ways of watching and writing about film.

Craig Taylor is the author of One Million Tiny Plays about Britain, a cool book of clever micro-plays full of character and social comment. The morning session is a formal collaborative workshop and participants are then encouraged to carry on writing independently. You can then return later in the afternoon with your finished plays to read through with Craig and young performers from Chichester Festival Youth Theatre to prepare for a performance of your play at 5.30pm.
Philip Wells
The Fire Poet Philip Wells will unleash the magic of your inner word-musician with some joyful lyrical free play, after which you're free to seek out further surreal serendipitous sonics to create your own original poem. You can then perform your poem (accompanied by two world class improvisational musicians if you wish), on the unsuspecting festival goers at a seat-of-your-pants-exciting final performance alongside Philip at 5.30pm.
Whether you want to create a mini-manga, or write a phenomenal fantasy, these drop-in build-a-book sessions put you in control.
You can create your own miniature masterpiece in a simple six-page spread, or build up to a much bigger book. It's all down to your imagination.
Plenty of encouragement and resources to help you take a special story home.
