Deer

Three species of deer occur on West Dean Estate, Roe, Fallow and Muntjac. Deer control is carried out by a team of experienced local stalkers with the primary objects of minimising deer damage to farm and forestry crops and maintaining a balanced and healthy deer population on the Estate.

Novice and experienced clients wishing to stalk are welcome by arrangement. All stalking is accompanied and fees (inclusive of VAT) are payable at the time of the outing. Trophy preparation can be arranged with the stalkers by separate agreement. Visitors' Firearm Permits can be arranged for foreign clients.

An Estate Rifle can be arranged for clients without their own firearms.

Venison may be purchased as whole carcases in skin at the current prices.

Bed and Breakfast accommodation is available locally.

Please contact estate@westdean.org.uk if you would like to book outings or discuss stalking in detail.
