I like to give students a range of learning inputs in an informal environment. As much practical, hands on experience as can be squeezed into the allotted time. Plenty of demonstrations illustrating specific points. Group work with discussions, sharing the positive and learning from the negative. I hope to encourage experimentation and exploration. There is always strong emphasis on the importance of good original reference material, and of carefully considered design.

What will students gain if they come on one of your courses?

Students will gain the confidence to explore and experiment. They will also receive an insight into the infinite possibilities this medium offers.

Are there any particular techniques/processes you use in your teaching?

Individual tuition features strongly, giving students the opportunity to progress at their own pace. We will spend time on technical aspects where confidence needs building. There will be group demonstrations when everyone will have the chance to observe and ask questions. I like to encourage all students to realize that nothing is insoluble.
