I believe that almost anyone can sing, and my approach is aimed at giving people confidence in their own abilities.

What will students gain if they come on one of your courses?

They will gain experience of singing harmony and of the process of learning harmonies by ear. They will become familiar with a range of traditional British songs, and experience the pleasure of singing these seldom heard and beautiful songs in a group.

Are there any particular techniques/processes you use in your teaching?

I concentrate on teaching by ear, and by using a-capella arrangements of songs, I focus on developing people’s listening and singing abilities. I also believe in the importance of having fun!

What inspires your own work?

I have been inspired by many singers of traditional music, especially Shirley Collins and the Copper family

Where did you gain your training?

I am a member of the English Folk Dance and Song Society, and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
