My classes are very hands on and include plenty of opportunity to experiment with techniques and materials.
What will students gain if they come on one of your courses?
A basic understanding of bookbinding materials and techniques. Each student will complete at least two books.
Are there any particular techniques/processes you use in your teaching?Textured leather is a technique I use frequently both in classes and my own work.
What inspires your own work?The natural landscape, coastline and found objects.
Where can students see examples of your work?On my website, or in collections at Liverpool Public Library or the British Library.
Where did you gain your training/experience?I studied vocational bookbinding at the University of Brighton from 1977-81 and have been self-employed for 30 years.
What teaching experience have you had?I have taught bookbinding in adult education centres, binderies and at weekend workshops.
Is your work in any public or private collections?I have work in private collections in the UK and abroad and in public collections in Liverpool Library and the British Library.
Do you belong to any professional groups/societies?I am a Fellow of Designer Bookbinders and a member of Society of Bookbinders.
