What will students gain if they come on one of your courses?

They will learn the application, history and contemporary usage of the specific techniques of chasing and repousse and how to express their ideas using these techniques in metal.

Are there any particular techniques/processes you use in your teaching?

Chasing and repousse – methods ancient and modern.

What inspires your own work?

Botanical illustrations, plants and marine life. The techniques of chasing and repousse applied to metal.

Where did you gain your training?

I have a terminal graduate degree (MFA) in jewelry and metals from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA.

What teaching experience have you had?

I have been teaching in art centres, colleges and universities for over 30 years. I was the head of the Jewelry and Metals Program at the Univeristy of Oregon in Eugene, USA from 1989 to 1994 when I left to join my husband in another state. I have been adjunct instructor at Cabrillo College and Monterey Peninsula College in Calfornia-USA since 1984. For the past 15 years I have travelled around the United States teaching short courses at such places as Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Maine, The Glassel School in Houston, Texas, the University of New Mexico at El Paso, and various other programs around the United States.

Is your work in any public or private collections?

My work is in numerous private collections and at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Tacoma Art Museum in Washington State, USA and the Gallery of the State College of New Mexico at Las Cruces, USA.

Have you written any books/had articles published?

My book, “Chasing and Repousse: Methods Ancient and Modern” published by Brynmorgen Press of Maine has just come out. It is a text and gallery book and is available through jewelry supply companies in the United States and through Amazon.com. I have also written for Metalsmith magazine.

Do you belong to any professional groups/societies?

I am on the Board of Directors of the Northwest Designer Craftsmen organization, a member of the Society of North American Goldsmiths and the workshop coordinator for the Seattle Metals Guild, Washington State, USA.
