My approach to teaching is to excite and familiarise students with egg tempera painting following 15th century traditions and expanding that practice to suit the individual.

What will students gain if they come on one of your courses?

Confidence, respect and enthusiasm for materials and methods in producing in a piece of work that is relevant to today.

Are there any particular techniques/processes you use in your teaching?

Preparing gessoed, linen lined panels, grinding pigments, preparing tempera emulsions of egg yolk, pigment and distilled water

What inspires your own work?

Life, communication and the spaces between.

Where did you gain your training/experience?

Norwich School of Art BA Hons 1974

What teaching experience have you had?

Workshops and one to one tuition at my studio, in schools, art clubs and mentoring children for the Arts Council Gold Award Scheme.

Is your work in any public or private collections?

In private collections. Public collections include the Detroit Museum of Modern Art, Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital Arts Trust, Anglican Churches Arts Trust.

Have you written any books/had articles published?

Articles and work have been published worldwide in magazines, catalogues, on YouTube, CNN television, Italian and French television. Worked as an adviser practitioner appearing with Rolf Harris recreating Botticelli’s “Venus” on BBC television series “Rolf on Art”

I have recently won a award by the Menier gallery, London. Presented by Fred Cummings RA and sponsored by Stabilo International at the 90th Annual Exhibition of the Society of Graphic Fine Art.
