My teaching as much as possible is student led. By this I mean that I try and draw out the qualities and ideas within the individuals playing rather than imprint my stamp on them.

What will students gain if they come on one of your courses?

First and foremost enjoyment in playing the guitar plus inspiration and a greater passion for the instrument. A better understanding of all the basics of guitar technique. Improved confidence in their playing in an ensemble and trial performances. Numerous tips from myself and, of course, from their fellow students.

Are there any particular techniques/processes you use in your teaching?

Learning techniques through pieces. A gentle concentration on all the fundamentals including warming up the body, breathing, posture and practice tips. Problem solving in the simplest way. Everything having a musical goal.

What inspires your own work?

A love of the guitar and bringing that to an audience/students.

Where can students see examples of your work?

In concerts around the UK as a soloist and as a member of the Vida Guitar Quartet.

Where did you gain your training?

Chetham’s School of Music, Royal Academy of Music. ARAM, GRSM (Hons), LRAM, Prof Cert (Hons)
