I am interested in people’s design ideas, and like to encourage the exploration of these in a playful, hands-on manner.

What will students gain if they come on one of your courses?

Confidence in their individual ideas, together with an overview of a range of decorative and structural techniques for working with leather, and the information resources necessary to take their practice further.

Are there any particular techniques/processes you use in your teaching?

A mixture of demonstration and practice, students are very much encouraged to learn by experimenting in a kinetic way.

What inspires your own work?

Historical forms and folk details.

Where did you gain your training/experience?

Motley Theatre Design course 1989 Royal College of Art, fashion and textiles MA by project, 1998

What teaching experience have you had?

Ten years experience teaching independent practical workshops at Cockpit Arts, and throughout the UK including demonstrations at the V & A,The Crafts Council, and short courses at Greenwich Craft Foundation. I set up Designer Courses in 2005.

Is your work in any public or private collections?

I mainly work to commission for individuals and companies in the fashion and interiors industries.

Have you written any books/had articles published?

Complete Leatherwork, Collins and Brown, 2009.

Do you belong to any professional groups/societites?
