Jane Short

I have a great love and enthusiasm for the technique of enamelling, and this informs my teaching practice. I aim to give students an underlying understanding of the enamelling process, not only how to apply enamel to metal, but why these practises have evolved. This enables students not only to work within more traditional techniques but to work in a more experimental way if they wish. I encourage more experienced enamellers to push the boundaries of their practice, and to keep their dialogue with enamel lively and progressive.
What will students gain if they come on one of your courses?I openly share the experience and enthusiasm that I have built up over 35 years of enamelling, encourage students to use enamel in a lively and interesting way. A beginner would gain a good grounding in basic enamelling techniques, and a more experienced enameller would have the opportunity to further refine their practical skills and time to explore possibilities.
