Inspiration and self confidence alongside the chance to try different techniques and approaches to both making and surface treatment. Improved making skills and original results.
Are there any particular techniques/processes you use in your teaching?Vitreous slips, handbuilding especially coiling. Exciting uand innovative ways to apply colour and pattern to clay.
What inspires your own work?Landscape and the work of painters and sculptors.
Where can students see examples of your work?On my website, also represented at Contemporary ceramics in London, Gallery at Bevere Worcester, Quest Gallery Bath, Lund Gallery Easingwold Yorkshire and Cecilia Colman Gallery London.
Where did you gain your training/experience?Brighton Polytechnic - BA Honours (Wood, Metal, Ceramics & Plastics) & Goldsmith College - Post Graduate Diploma in Ceramics.
What teaching experience have you had?Loads.
Is your work in any public or private collections?Cologne Museum, Stoke on Trent Museum, Hove Museum, amongst others and in private collections (see my website for more)
Have you written any books/had articles published?Sources of Inspiration 2002 & Pattern, Colour & Form 2009. Both published by A&CBlack, (please see my website for other articles I have written)
Do you belong to any professional groups/societies?I am a fellow of the Craft Potters Association.
