West Dean College has a long-established reputation for the structured sequence of courses in fine furniture making and musical instrument making that runs in each programme, as well as courses in other woodworking processes and decorative finishes.

Workshops and equipment
Furniture making and other woodworking courses are held in the Main Workshop which is equipped with work-benches, lathes and all the relevant tools and equipment. Woodcarving normally takes place in the adjoining Stone Room. All workshops are on the ground floor.
