Entry Requirements


MA VISUAL ARTS/MASTERS OF FINE ART (MFA)*


awarded by the University of Sussex *subject to validation

Candidates registered on any of the Visual Arts postgraduate diplomas will have fulfilled the entryrequirements for the MA and MFA degree programmes. Progression to the MA will depend upon identifying and agreeing a suitable individual project to be undertaken. The MFA students will sustain a primary focus upon their studio practice and continue for a second year of full-time study.

MA CONSERVATION STUDIES


awarded by the University of Sussex

Candidates registered on any of the postgraduate diplomas in Conservation will have fulfilled the entry requirements for the MA Connservation Studies. Progression to the MA will depend upon identifying and agreeing a suitable individual project to be undertaken.

POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA

VISUAL ARTS – ALL SUBJECTS



A good first degree in an art or design related subject and a portfolio of work or successful completion of the Graduate Diploma in Visual Arts (University of Sussex) at West Dean.

CONSERVATION – ALL SUBJECTS


A good first degree in a relevant subject or successful completion of the Graduate Diploma (University of Sussex) at West Dean in a directly related subject and significant experience or interest in object history, technology and design.

GRADUATE DIPLOMA


awarded by the University of Sussex

VISUAL ARTS


A portfolio of work in the visual/ applied arts and either a degree in Fine Art or a related subject such as Art History, Art and Design, Architecture or a qualification equivalent to a second year of undergraduate study eg HNC, HND, DipHE or Foundation Degree in Fine Art or a related subject.

CONSERVATION – ALL SUBJECTS


Degree or qualification at equivalent level to a second year of undergraduate study eg HNC, HND, DipHE and significant interest in conservation and the particular material or objects you wish to conserve.



WEST DEAN COLLEGE DIPLOMA

FURNITURE MAKING/RESTORATION PRACTICES


A good general education combined with an appropriate level of woodworking or related hand skills.

CONSERVATION OF CLOCKS


A proven interest in horology, its history, technology and design or a degree or other technical qualification in a relevant subject and related hand skills.

MAKING STRINGED MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS


A good standard of general education combined with a high level of woodworking or cabinet-making or relevant musical instruments making skills and a proven interest in musical instruments.


PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DIPLOMA


awarded by West Dean College

The submission of a project proposal and /or research project.

MAKING STRINGED MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS


Successful completion of the West Dean College Diploma and the submission of a project proposal and/or research project.

CONSERVATION – ALL SUBJECTS


Considerable experience in a relevant industry or successful completion of the West Dean College Diploma and the submission of a project proposal and /or research project.


SIX-WEEK STUDY PROGRAMME TAPESTRY AND TEXTILE ART

There are no formal entry requirements.


Applications are welcomed from candidates who do not possess the entry requirements listed above provided they have substantial relevant experience of long-term involvement in a related subject in practice, research and design.
