An optional follow-on one-day course will give the participants the opportunity to obtain further practical experience in metal-work conservation techniques in the College's well-equipped traditional forge. Two tutors will demonstrate shaping and joining metals, the skills of the blacksmith, copper-beating, arc and gas welding, soldering, hot-set riveting, and surface-patination. There will be an opportunity to practise any or all of these techniques.
